Apalya to offer mobile TV on RCom 3G

Reliance Communications (RCom) has tied up with Apalya Technologies, a mobile media and entertainment provider, to offer mobile TV to its 3G subscribers.
On Monday RCom announced the launch of its 3G mobile and data services in four cities - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh. The pan India operator is the second private telco after Tata Docomo to launch 3G services in the country.

Apalya recently added Discovery, National Geographic and Disney Channels to its portfolio, taking its total portfolio to more than a 100 channels.
The company will also be the exclusive mobile, live video streaming provider for all Indian Premier League (IPL) matches over the next three years, including during the forthcoming 2010 IPL season.
RCom has categorised mobile TV tariffs into daily, weekly and monthly plans. For example, users can access 15 news, kids and fun channels at a daily tariff of Rs 25; weekly Rs 75; or monthly Rs 150.
There are five devotional channels that can be accessed at a monthly price of Rs 100.
The Mega Pack is a bouquet of 75 channels at a daily rental of Rs 50, weekly Rs 100 and monthly Rs 250.
It is also possible to access a single channel for Rs 10 per day, Rs 35 per week or Rs 75 for one month.
