I regret not getting 20 to 30 per cent more business": CMD, BSNL

The present chief managing director of BSNL, Kuldeep Goyal, who is scheduled to retire this month, has only one regret: That he could have got more business for the company.
He said, "Reflecting back, my only regret is that I was not able to get 20 to 30 per cent more business; and the thing that I will cherish is that BSNL was able to reach places where no other service provider could reach."
He also said that he had not sought extension of his tenure and would like the best person to lead BSNL, who can be from within the organization, or from the industry, as recommended by the Pitroda committee.
It may be recalled that the government has formed a six member search cum selection committee, headed by the cabinet secretary, to scout for new chief managing directors for the two public sector telecom units.
On payments for BSNL landline phones, Goyal said that out of the 333 call data records (CDR), 131 have been established and that the remaining CDR will be completed shortly. As a result, BSNL landline subscribers will be able to pay their phone bills with credit cards across India.
