Micromax enters Bangladesh market

Handset maker Micromax has announced its foray into Bangladesh and said it will launch 12 cellular phone models priced between 2,000 Bangladesh Taka (BDT) (about Rs 1,350) and 16,000 BDT (about Rs 10,800).
Micromax handsets will be aimed at consumers across all segments with special focus on the youth, Micromax said in a statement.
The company has appointed Reach Distribution to make the handsets available in more than 2,500 outlets in the country. Reach Distribution is a national distributor for the Bangladesh market, the statement added.
"To begin with, the company will launch 12 models ranging from less than 2,000 BDT to 16,000 BDT. These include feature-rich mobile phones ranging from 30-day long battery backup, dual SIM, Qwerty chat-phones, music-touch phones, lifestyle phones and utility phones," the press release said.
Micromax, which is already present in Hong Kong, the USA, Dubai, Nepal and Sri Lanka, did not disclose any investment details.
