Akai Mobiles eyes turnover of Rs 5 crore in Andhra Pradesh

Akai, the Japanese consumer electronics brand, is aiming for a turnover of Rs 5 crore in one year from its new mobile phone distribution channel in Andhra Pradesh.
The company has appointed PVR Enterprises as its exclusive distribution partner in the state for Akai Mobiles. It is also in the process of tying up with several large-format retail chains at the national and regional levels.

With its new distribution channel, Akai plans to tap 100 modern retail outlets across Andhra Pradesh. Akai mobiles are currently sold at 15,000 retail outlets in the country and the company intends to increase this number to 20,000 by the end of the year.
Deepak Kabu, general manager of national sales at Akai Mobiles, said, "The distribution channel that Akai has inaugurated is part of its pan India strategy to strengthen the company's presence at the retail level. This area represents one of the most important markets for us and in future we plan to expand our reach by opening similar distribution channels for modern trade across other markets in India."
The new distribution channel houses the entire range of mobiles from Akai, currently comprising ten models, which include dual SIM devices.
