Wireless Broadband Business Services, one of Qualcomm's LTE ventures in India, and Ericsson have given an outdoor demonstration of LTE TDD or TD-LTE mobility in the 2.3 GHz band.
High definition video was streamed to a mobile van in Gurgaon for demonstrating the next generation network. Data was transferred using Radio Access Network (RAN) and Evolved Packet Core (EPC) solutions from Ericsson, and USB dongles based on Qualcomm's multimode chipset that supports both LTE and 3G.
Kanwalinder Singh, senior vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm in India and South Asia, said, "LTE TDD, with its attributes of mobility and 3G interoperability, is the technology most suited for deployment in India's 2.3 GHz BWA spectrum."
Qualcomm won one slot in the 20 MHz band in the 2.3 GHz band in the BWA auction held earlier this year in July. This band covers key telecom circles of Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala. Qualcomm announced Global Holding Corporation and Tulip Telecom as initial shareholders for its India LTE venture.
