Tulip Telecom has been named the network bandwidth service provider (NBSP) for deploying data connectivity services in Punjab under the Restructured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Program (R-APDRP) scheme.
The contract, which has been awarded by the Punjab government, is worth nearly Rs 38 crore.Order work includes execution, supply, installation and commissioning of MPLS VPN, internet and other connectivity services to all the project towns under the R-APDRP scheme floated by Punjab State Power Corporation (UPCL).
The project has to be completed over a period of 12 to 18 months and maintained over a period of three years by Tulip.
Tulip had earlier bagged Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh APDRP projects worth more than Rs 160 crores.
Spokesperson of the company, said, "We have already bagged four out of eight projects assigned so far. We are hopeful of more wins in the coming days."
R-APDRP is an initiative driven by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, to set up reliable and automated systems for sustained collection of accurate base line data and the adoption of information technology in metering, billing, energy accounting and customer care.
This will enable provision of the right information and experience to customers and significantly reduce Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses.
Commenting on this, Lt Col (retd) HS Bedi, chairman and managing director, Tulip Telecom, said, "I am confident that the deployment of these projects will enable significant energy loss reduction and thus contribute positively towards India's economic growth. This will also allow Tulip to substantially expand its network coverage."
