Olive Telecom plans to spend around Rs 100 crore for brand building in India. The company recently launched an Android based tablet called OlivePad VT100 that supports 3.5G HSUPA, WiFi and Bluetooth.
Arun Khanna , chairman, Olive Telecommunications, said, “ We have earmarked Rs 100 crore for brand building in India as we would like the masses to know what all innovative thing we are doing .”
Olive Telecom produces WCDMA, CDMA, GSM and EVDO handsets; mobile computing devices; advanced data modems and devices for wireless broadband. The company currently works with 24 network operators across the globe.
David Hind, chief executive officer, Olive Telecommunications, said, “We spend around ten per cent of our budget on research and development.”
At present, Olive has two R&D centers in China for which software support is provided from India.
Hind added that as far as manufacturing is concerned, tablets are made in Taiwan and all other products in the company’s portfolio are manufactured in China.
