Reliance Communications (Rcom) today announced the launch of its next generation 3G mobile and data services in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh.
3G services in nine of the remaining 13 circles, where Rcom had won 3G spectrum, will be launched in the next three months.
Spokesperson for Rcom said at a press conference, "As of now video calling facility will not be available to Rcom mobile subscribers till it gets security clearance, and we are hopeful of getting it in the next few days."
"Rcom is also targeting a national footprint of 3G network through associations with other like-mined 3G operators in the country so as to offer services in nine circles where it has not won the spectrum," spokesperson further said.
Rcom had some time back entered into a strategic partnership with US major Universal Music Group to offer music-related services and content on its telecom services.
The agreement with Universal was a prelude to RComm's 3G launch since music offers the potential to provide the best consumer experience on 3G network.
As a result of 3 G services Rcom mobile phone users will be able to chat with their friends in remote places while looking at their faces, and also watch movies, music videos, and use the Internet to transfer money through mobile banking service.
3G mobile communication uses 2 giga hertz waves with transmission speed ranging from 128Kbps to 2Mbps enabling the users to exchange moving pictures.
